Event summary
In this Future of Care distinguished address Professor Maggie Rae will explore the impact of COVID-19 on the delivery of NHS services
About this event
COVID-19, and the response to it, has led to significant changes in how NHS services are delivered and used. This has included an acceleration of policies that have previously only made incremental progress. Areas of change have included health promotion and support for vulnerable people in the community, remote consultations in primary and hospital care, new ways of receiving emergency acute and mental health services, and new collaborations across the health and care system.
In this first Future of Care event since the outbreak of the pandemic, Professor Maggie Rae, President of the Faculty of Public Health, will explore how COVID-19 has emphasised the importance of public health teams being part of local government and also accelerated some policies that have previously only made incremental progress.
This is the first in a series of Future of Care distinguished addresses and is hosted jointly with the University of West England. It continues the work of our 2019 events in highlighting the potential of new and emerging technologies to address the ambitions in the NHS Long Term Plan.
