Event summary

New forms of funding is a series of free-to-attend workshops exploring a range of emerging forms of investment funding relevant to local institutions such as combined/local authorities, universities, and NHS organisations.

The programme is being developed by the NHS Confederation, Universities UK and the Higher Education Funding Council for England, with the support of the Local Government Association and PA Consulting.

The focus will be on various types of bonds, loan funds and integrated funding approaches which will sustain future strategic infrastructure and site development.

Why attend?

As ‘risk-based’ opportunities, they will require local institutions to think and act very differently when compared to traditional grant regimes.
Some of these funding sources will be new to NHS colleagues. But given the increasing understanding of the NHS’ role in local place-based decision-making, and reductions in available capital funding, it is important we are aware of these mechanisms and how they can help address our challenges.

Delegates will:

  • hear from institutions providing the various forms of finance
  • identify the ingredients of a successful application
  • discuss practical case studies will transfer best practice.

The programme will be supported by an online community of practice to help embed local, cross-sectoral relations

Focus: The use of these new forms of funding, drawing from a range of experiences from around the country, and what that can mean for the South and South West regions.
