On 22 September a major event is set to take place in Bristol bringing together healthcare professionals with technology companies and entrepreneurs to explore opportunities for accelerating the digital agenda across the West of England.
Feedback is now emerging on our Sustainability and Transformation Plans and associated Local Digital Roadmap submissions. We now need to galvanise our teams into further action to deliver the digital future.
The NHS has set aside around £1.8 billion for creating a ‘paperless’ healthcare service by 2020 and we need to ensure we make the best use of these funds to improve digital capabilities across the health and care sector, providing our staff, our patients and our population with the best, most convenient and most appropriate technologies to improve health and well-being.
This is why we have teamed up with NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit and NHS England to stage The Digital Art of the Possible, a one-day event to kick-start conversations and commence the brokering of relationships between the health and care sector and companies who could potentially support this exciting digital journey.
MyLife Digital and InterSystems have been confirmed as sponsors of the event. Find out more about them here.
Common digital themes
An extensive number of companies will be showcasing their digital solutions and services, all of which are aligned to the five common themes that have emerged from the Local Digital Roadmaps in the West of England:
- Clinician-to-clinician communication solutions
- Mobile apps and devices to support clinicians in delivery of care
- Mobile working, connectivity and cloud solutions
- Person-centred technologies supporting self-care, including personalised health records and citizen digital health
- Population health analytics and real-time clinical decision support.
Our full list of exhibitors confirmed to date is available here.
Speakers and learning events
Deborah El-Sayed, NHS England’s Director of Digital & Multi Channel Development and Head of Digital Urgent and Emergency Care will be our keynote speaker, while a number of high profile speakers will take part in a panel discussion exploring, ‘How can we best move our local digital roadmaps forward?’
Delegates will also have the opportunity to attend a range of learning events, including:
- Code4 Health: open source opportunities and examples
- Information Governance Alliance: the rules for using information in health and care
- Personal Health Records with the Southampton University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and national leads
- Wessex AHSN: Big Data and Population Health Analytics.
Advice and guidance will be available from national NHS procurement leads and Information Governance specialists, as well as experts from the National Information Board and Code4Health. There will also be opportunities for one-to-one meetings and group discussions with suppliers.
A significant moment
Janina Cross, Informatics Lead for the West of England AHSN, explains this is not just an event for technical leads and digital experts: “This is an event where clinicians, operational staff and those responsible for transforming health and care can come to view the ‘digital art of the possible’ and connect with like-minded individuals and organisations who can help bring digital visions into reality.
“It’s a significant moment to be part of shaping the digital future of the NHS and an exciting opportunity for you to connect with a wide range of companies who could help you on that journey!”
Entry is free for health and care professionals and only a limited number of places remain available. Book your place here.
