The Deteriorating Patient – Let the numbers do the talking

Marking the two year anniversary of the launch of the West of England Patient Safety Collaborative Deteriorating Patient and National Early Warning Score (NEWS) programme, this event will focus on celebrating our impact and demonstrable results across the region.  We will share our experiences of our NEWS journeys, supported by data evidencing our work.  We will collaborate on data collection top tips and methodologies, discuss further opportunities for embedding and sustaining our work and contemplate the final phase of this programme and what success will look like.

In the words of WE Deming, “without data you are just another person with an opinion”.  Delegates will benefit from reviewing data that demonstrates our excellent achievements in the region in improving the recognition of the deteriorating patient and the communication of NEWS at the points of handover of care.  Delegates will learn how organisations from across the region have measured their success in improving outcomes for patients and will get the opportunity to share and learn from these experiences.

We would welcome attendees from all organisations who have worked on deteriorating patient work-streams or have an interest in improving the recognition of the deteriorating patient across the system.  Specifically, we would actively encourage attendance from primary and community care (including Practice Nurse and Mental Health services), GP referral units or single points of clinical access, South Western Ambulance Trust, Emergency Departments and secondary care wards so we can demonstrate the improvements we have made across all services across the region.
