The West of England HIP 2018 has been a huge success with the innovators diving in head first, taking on a wide range of healthcare challenges and graduating with promising business propositions.
What is this HIP? No not the body part! Maybe you’ve read the #NHS70 HIP Atlas AHSN case study or seen the excitement on #HIP_AHSN Twitter? Well, the West of England Health Innovation Programme is a four day personal development course for innovators developing healthcare solutions.
The HIP is available through the Swindon and Wiltshire Health and Life Science Innovation Hub. It offers a wide range of fully-funded business development resources. This programme has received funding from the European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme. The Innovation Hub is open for business and everything must go!
What did the HIPsters learn?
The innovators were led through the programme by the SETsquared mentors, supported by the West of England AHSN Innovation and Growth team. Over the four days they learnt about accessing funding, how to seek regulatory approval, the NHS as a marketplace and the NHS national programmes for adoption and spread of innovation. Not only this, but they were also formulating their individual business models along the way.
The programme concluded with delegates pitching to a panel of healthcare and business experts from the West of England region and receiving one-to-one feedback. To top it off, they were awarded with the highly coveted HIP T-shirt!
