At the start of July to we hosted an event launch a learning system to clinicians and health workers from organisations across the region.
This work is part of the NHS Improvement’s National Maternal and Neonatal Health Safety Collaborative. The Learning System aims to create a safe space for local learning and sharing. We invited representatives from across the maternal and neonatal workforce particularly front-line doctors, midwives, nurses and support workers.
The room was full, and thankfully well air-conditioned as the sun was hot and debate was sometimes lively on topics ranging from how to describe the process of making toast to systems thinking.
Speakers including Tony Kelly from NHS Improvement , and our own Ann Remmers, Nathalie Delaney and Tricia Woodhead introduced the Maternal and Neonatal Safety Collaborative and how to apply Quality Improvement (QI) and systems thinking. Lots of hard work, active networking and lively discussion were going on, but as it was the day the day before the NHS’ big 70th Birthday there was still time to for a quick cream tea, before getting back to work in the afternoon.
