The HSJ Awards 2018 have finalised their shortlist, including six of our member organisations from the West of England. The winners will be announced in London on 21 November 2018.
These awards serve as an annual programme of learning. Through a journey of analysis and collaboration, as well as an expert judging process, entrants are able to benchmark their contributions to healthcare excellence and develop their projects with partners across the UK and further afield.
One of the projects, KiActiv® Health’s collaboration with Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), was supported and funded by the West of England AHSN. It is part of a diabetes digital self-management challenge, and has been shortlisted in the ‘Patient digital participation’ category. KiActiv® Health is a clinically proven digital behaviour change programme that redefines the use of physical activity as a potent medicine for diabetes and other long term conditions.
Dr Elizabeth Dymond, Deputy Director of Innovation & Growth at the West of England AHSN, said: “It’s great to hear that one of our challenge projects has been shortlisted for an HSJ award – congratulations to Gloucestershire CCG and KiActiv®. We worked with our member organisations and Diabetes UK to shape the call to industry and choose the diabetes self-management tools. It’s been a great example of partnership working and one we’re looking to repeat on different themes with our STP/ICS innovation hubs.”

- Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust, Increasing capacity and capability in Quality Improvement resulting in improved patient care across the organisation
- Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust, Improved outcomes for inpatients developing Sepsis and AKI using Quality Improvement methodology
- Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Managing Adult Malnutrition in GP Practice: A Service Evaluation
- Royal United Hospitals Bath FT Project SEARCH partnership with, Virgin Care and Fosse Way School, Project Search
