Event summary
We are delighted to announce that with the timeframes now available for the roll out of MEWS and NEWTT2 that our Summer Maternity and Neonatal Safety Improvement Programme will focus on the deterioration work stream and will take place virtually on Wednesday 12th July 2023.
The West of England and South West AHSNs have agreed to work together to form a South West wide Deterioration Community of Practice to facilitate a space where organisations can work together, to learn and share from each other during the active phase of the programme. It does not matter whether your Trust is paper based or digital there are already things that we all can be working on already.
The first meeting will take place virtually on Wednesday 12th July 2023 hosted by both the West of England and the South West AHSNs. This two-hour interactive session will build on our previous Patient Safety Collaborative events discussing the recognition and management of deterioration and is designed to support implementation planning within units, using a Quality Improvement approach, as we move into the next phase of this programme. In this session we will focus on identifying and bringing together your team, provide you with a national update and we will be working together working on a readiness checklist.
Who should attend?
As this session will be mapping out what needs to happen in each Trust ahead of roll out it’s really important to have wide ranging input from a variety of teams. This also allows us to consider how these tools fit into the wider Trust practices
We would therefore encourage the following people to attend from each organisation.
- Labour ward lead
- Post natal and antenatal manager
- Governance Lead
- Transitional care lead
- Triage lead
- Audit Lead
- Deterioration lead
- Maternity and Neonatal Safety champion
- Obstetric, Midwife, Neonatal Nurse and Neonatologist representatives
- Practice placement educators
- Professional Maternity Advocate
- Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnerships
- Professional Midwifery advocates
- Students
- Voluntary, community and social enterprise sector
- Junior Doctors
- Digital Midwives
This community of practice is an inclusive event, if you have an active interest in the topic you do not need to currently have an active quality improvement or leadership role to attend.
