Event summary
Health Innovation West of England and the National Centre for Integrative Medicine are proud to co-host this webinar to practitioners across the West of England locality. (A recording will be available publicly after the event.)
Subitha Baghirathan will be presenting a small-scale enquiry hosted by the Nilaari Agency, which was funded by NHS England via the Diverse Research Engagement Network of Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
The report and webinar focuses on the experience of Caribbean and South Asian women that live with chronic or persistent pain, sharing examples of barriers they faced during interactions with healthcare providers and what it is like for them to live with chronic/persistent pain conditions.
The aim of sharing the report and its outcomes is to shine a light on the structural racism, racial discrimination and racial bias experienced by individuals when attending health services to seek support for their chronic/persistent pain conditions, to challenge these disparities, and raise awareness of the need to actively listen to individuals to ensure they feel genuinely heard and empowered to advocate for their health and wellbeing.
