A new funding call has been launched to support the wider adoption and spread of proven innovations that improve earlier diagnosis in cancer care.
Health Innovation West of England is partnering with the NHS Somerset, Wiltshire, Avon and Gloucestershire (SWAG) Cancer Alliance to run the new cancer innovation programme.
We are looking for adoption-ready products and solutions with a strong evidence base that can be implemented in NHS and other healthcare organisations across the SWAG geographical footprint.
Up to £75,000 in funding for adoption and spread projects is available.
The closing date is Monday 21 October 2024.
Collaborative applications are welcomed from primary and secondary care, the VCSE sector and social care organisations, in partnership with companies and innovators.
We encourage applications from projects with a specific focus on (but are not necessarily exclusive to) tumour sites with the highest volume of late-stage diagnoses in the SWAG area: oesophageal, lung, pancreatic, and non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Projects that target closing the gap for population groups experiencing the most severe health inequalities are also strongly encouraged.
Q&A webinar
We are holding a webinar on Wednesday 25 September, 12pm – 1pm to give prospective applicants the chance to ask questions about the funding or the application process. Please add this to your calendar and join us at the stated time by following this Microsoft Teams link.
Alternatively, feel free to email your queries to swagca@nbt.nhs.uk.
Becky Clack, Cancer Innovations Programme Manager said: “We are very excited to be jointly launching this new callout to the healthcare innovator community. We hope it will be the first step in building a pipeline of cutting-edge cancer innovation.
“We’re keen to hear about cancer innovations that have already been implemented elsewhere, have a strong evidence base and have been shown to enable earlier diagnosis, and that can now be rolled out to organisations in the SWAG geography.”

For any queries relating to the call, please email swagca@nbt.nhs.uk.
The closing date for applications is Monday 21 October 2024.
