Atrial Fibrillation was selected as one of seven priorities to be adopted and spread across the AHSN Network during 2018-2020. Read more about the AHSN Network and the seven programmes selected here.
We have developed a range of toolkits for clinicians, pharmacists and patients to help prevent atrial fibrillation (AF)-related strokes.
These toolkits were available via the Don’t Wait to Anticoagulate website, funded through a joint working project between Bayer HealthCare and the West of England AHSN.
These include guidance:
- for clinicians on the different anticoagulants they can prescribe for treating atrial fibrillation depending on a range of factors; the different patient stroke risk factors; and how to implement positive change in their practice to manage such a condition
- for patients on understanding their AF-related stroke risks and the different treatments available as well as questions that they should ask their doctor if they feel they are at risk of an AF related stroke
- for pharmacists when dealing with patients who have been prescribed anti-coagulant medicines.
The toolkits formed part of our Don’t Wait to Anticoagulate campaign.
