Emmanuel Defever
Evaluation Programme Coordinator
Health Innovation Wessex
Emmanuel joined Wessex Health Innovation Network in 2022 as one of the evaluation programme coordinators. He has a range of experience in health and social care in both academic and clinical settings. He has worked in the NHS as a qualified physiotherapist and, more recently, as a clinical research practitioner in both physical and mental health research. In 2020, he completed his PhD on the evaluation of the socio-ecological impact on primary school children’s physical activity levels and sedentary behaviour.
In his current role, he evaluates a variety of health technologies and new ways of working to help local NHS systems with digital transformation. He prefers to use a mixed-methods approach to explore not only ‘what works,’ but also to understand ‘what works for who, how and why’ in the health and social care sector.
