Asha started at Health Innovation West of England on a 12-month secondment in November 2024 after 22 years working as a Registered Midwife. Asha is working as part of the patient safety team.
Prior to commencing the role, she worked for the last 10 years as Lead Practice Development/Lead Midwifery Educator for Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Previous maternity roles also include; Lead Midwife for Gloucester Birth Centre and Lead Midwife on the Delivery Suite in Cheltenham General. Alongside her substantive roles Asha was also employed for 8 years by the University of West of England (UWE) as a visiting and link midwifery lecturer. Specific areas of midwifery interest include; low-risk midwifery care, timely escalation, human factors, and workplace civility and culture and how this can impact on the safety of patient care.
Asha has as a passion for developing services and has led many maternity projects such as; setting up and managing an alongside midwifery led unit, implementing an Intrapartum aromatherapy service, creating a postnatal information animation and designing an immersive case study approach to training.
Asha has an MSc in Advanced practice and has recently completed training to act as an expert midwife for legal cases.
